Just a quick update here! If you haven’t already seen the gigantic list of additions, improvements, and fixes in Magento 1.7 (Community Edition, EE was also updated), you should! Some of my favorite updates:
– Auto Generation of Coupon Codes
– CAPTCHA support for both admin and customer users
– Different base prices for different customer groups!
More past the break.
With these new updates, you can save yourself (or your client) quite a bit of money by simply removing your standard extensions alone.
My favorite update – different base prices for different customer groups. With this (and a little tweaking), you could essentially take 2 storefronts in to one, assuming your products are the same, and the prices are simply different. Now, with the separation of prices for, say, Wholesalers and Customers, you can create 1 storefront, and keep everything tracked in one place. To do this, simply create a customer group called Wholesalers, and change the base pricing (config products and group products may be a little tough to get down right), and voila!
